A Workshop on the Economic Integration and opportunities of Lao PDR, was held at Division of Industry and Commerce, Savannakhet province on 17-18 October 2012. The workshop was chaired by H.E. Dr. Nam Viyaketh, minister of Ministry of Industry and Commerce and co-chaired by Savannakhet Province vice Governor Dr. Khamphuei Phanthachonh, along with the participation of Mr. Bounsom Phommavihane, Director General of Foreign Trade Policy Department, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Bounmy Manivong, Director General of the Ministry’s office. The opening remark was delivered by Dr. Nam Vignaket and welcome remark by vice Governor of Savanakhet Province. Also, there were 80 attendees from the concerned sectors from both public and private sector from Savannakhet Province and 5 other central and southern part provinces (Khammouane, Salavan, Champasak, Sekong and Attapuea).
The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness and understanding on the challenges and opportunities of Lao PDR’s economic integration with international community to the business and industry sectors in order for them to be ready for future trade competition in the southern of Laos.
